Tea Etiquette 101

Although American’s are known as the world’s coffee drinkers, tea is becoming more and more popular. Since the majority of people do not typically drink tea, or drink it very minimally it is a good idea to learn the proper etiquette when having an afternoon tea.

When you go to have tea it is good to know what type of tea it is. There are generally three types of afternoon tea: full tea, royal tea, high tea. Full tea is four course of items like scones and desserts, a royal tea is the same as a full tea with the addition of champagne and a high tea is a full meal.

Below is an excellent video with tips and items you should not do when drinking tea. The Boardwalk Plaza serves afternoon tea Monday through Saturday from 3 to 5 by reservation only.

Victorian Era Inspiration

It is important to understand the Victorian Era since this is the era which inspired the architecture of the Boardwalk Plaza. The Victorian architectural period is a time span from 1825-1900 where attention to detail was key in the structure of a building. They also pulled key elements from nature and geometry which inspired Victorian architecture as well. Ruth Ann Zerby, one of the Boardwalk Plaza owners used this same concept of ‘attention to detail’ and handpicked each antique item found throughout the 84 rooms in the hotel.

You Found What at the Beach?

It’s a bird. It’s a plane. No, it’s a giant Lego man! On October 29, 2008, an 8 foot tall Lego man washed ashore of the Brighton Beach. Some people believe that the Lego man somehow escaped from Legoland park, while others believe he fell off of a cargo ship. Either way, the beach allowed him to stay where he has become a very popular attraction.

Have you ever found anything interesting on Rehoboth Beach?

Buyer Beware

When Seth Kugel rented a London studio for five days, he had not a clue as to the horrible and daunting issues to come. Just a few short days after he had transferred money into an agents account, he received a very shady email saying that the landlord had taken off and the agent who sold him the space was in jail. Kugel who, rightfully so, felt deceived and humiliated, took steps into finding out who had scammed him out of a place and his money. Read more…

Below are Kugel’s tips for fellow travelers on how not to get scammed:

  1. If it’s too good to be true, it probably is.
  2. Use reputable and tested sites.
  3. Always use a credit card.
  4. Check for previous scams.
  5. Do a keyword search.
  6. Visit the apartment, or have someone do it for you.
  7. In English-speaking countries, look out for poor grammar.
  8. See if you can get someone on the phone.
