A Boardwalk Nation!

As summer makes its way back into Rehoboth, the Boardwalk will be in full swing. Once again filling with crowds of all ages and walks of life, the smells of delicious goodies and the sounds of laughter and music. It is a special time of year, and after being cooped up in our houses and those restrictive layers of clothing all winter, we are ready to venture out and experience the sunshine and the joy that summer brings with it.

Without a doubt Rehoboth Beach has the best boardwalk in our opinion; however, for you summer road warriors and adventure junkies we thought you might enjoy a list of other fun boardwalks around the country. Sure, they don’t come close to our spectacular Rehoboth Beach Boardwalk, but if you are in another state, we will allow (just this once) you to attend another!

Things to do in Rehoboth Beach

You asked for it, so we came up with a list of a variety of things to do in Rehoboth that pretty much caters to everyone. Hope this helps!

-Downtown Rehoboth Shopping
-Funland – family amusement center located on the boardwalk.
-Rehoboth Beach Boardwalk – mile long boardwalk with great food and people watching!
-Ryan’s Mini Golf – rooftop mini golf course with great views of the beach and boardwalk.
-Old Landing Golf Course – challenging with great rates.
-Cinema by the Surf – Admission is FREE and movies start at dusk at the Rehoboth Beach Bandstand. Only during the summer months.
-Dogfish Head Brewpub – FREE tours, great food and music on the weekends.
-The Wizard’s Whisk – Sick of the kids? Drop them off here and they will learn to cook.
-Nassu Valley Vineyards – Delaware’s first award winning winery, located in Lewes.
-Rehoboth Beach Bandstand – a variety of FREE concerts with the waves in the background.
-Delaware Seashore State Park – swimming, boating, surfing, fishing and much much more!

Driftwood Decorating

Driftwood is a beautiful way to add a creative and organic touch of decorating to your house. Instead of looking for shells when you are at the beach this summer, try looking for some pieces of driftwood – the new home decorating fashion statement!

All you have to do is gather your driftwood, soak them in water and bleach (kills bugs and smell) then decide what type of craft you are going to put together out of your driftwood. Here are some fabulous ideas:

The Amazing Sandcastle Girl

Jenny Rossen grew up in Australia and dreamed of being a surfer, but when her dream of riding the waves didn’t happen she made sandcastles. Fortunately, Jenny’s failed dream provided her with a new direction which has inspired people around the world with beautiful, jaw-dropping sandcastles.

As one of the coolest jobs ever, Jenny is a professional sandcastler traveling around the world to make sandcastles for events, places and people. Each of her sandcastles are made from water and sand, but the skeleton of each piece of artwork is wood boxes. When it is complete, Jenny sprays each project with a glue and water mixture. Verrazzano Celebration

Antique Dealer Shares Amazing Stories

Geoffrey Russell, an antique dealer, loved to tell stories about his findings and odd events which related to his business. Russell, who passed away in 2007, had a collection of written stories in which his children published and put on his website.

A favorite, is when Russell first started out in the business, he was shadowing a friend while attending a local auction. A hideous amateur painting was held up and to his surprise his friend and another bidder fought until they reached around $2,400. Russell was astonished, when he questioned his friend his friend told him that the property owner had painted it and that his two daughters, who despised each other, were fighting over the painting through the bidders!

As a world travelor, Pink came up with eleven video tips to help you better your travel experience. Some of the tips include: staying away from germs, beating jet lag, and the type of earplugs you will want to purchase when flying. The Traveling Ducks!

During a 1992 storm a bin carrying 29,000 rubber ducks, green frogs and blue turtles broke free. Since then, the ducks have been spotted all around the world from Hawaii to Australia to Britain; these ducks have traveled the world! One oceanographer has even made tracking these ducks his retirement project. Best part is, if you are able to recover one of these ducks, the company that lost them is willing to pay $100, so keep your eyes peeled!
